Post-doctoral research scientist

The Center for the Study of Hematological and other Malignancies, CSHM (https://cshm.ac.cy/) in close association with Karaiskakio Foundation (https://karaiskakio.org.cy/), Nicosia, Cyprus, is looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of molecular biology of cancer.

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Researcher with a strong background in molecular and/or cell biology. The successful candidate will utilise genome-editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR-CAS9 platform) to investigate molecular pathways that regulate factors involved in tumorigenesis and/or evasion of the immune system and thus potential new therapeutic targets.

The selected candidate will join a team of experienced post-doctoral researchers led by Dr. Paul Costeas in close collaboration to Prof George Vassiliou at the University of Cambridge (UK). A sabbatical in Prof George Vassiliou’s group at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute may also be part of the researcher’s training The successful he postdoctoral researcher will be encouraged to explore his/her research ideas and contribute to the work of others as part of a team.

Required Qualifications: PhD in Molecular, Cellular Biology or relevant field. Previous experience in genome editing technologies (e.g CRISPR-CAS9) and bioinformatics expertise will be considered as advantages. The successful candidate should be an independent thinker, with excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

The Centre for the Study of Haematological and other Malignancies (CSHM) is a research institution based in Cyprus that was established with government support and funding from the Research Promotion Foundation.  Since its establishment in 2009, the CSHM has worked closely with the Karaiskakio Foundation towards establishing one of the most advanced integrated diagnostic centers in Europe. Now CSHM is continuing its research in target discovery for treating diseases such as cancer and establishes a new multidisciplinary team and technologies for research, available to the local and international scientific community. The CSHM has established national and international collaborations both in Europe (UK, Greece, Norway) and China.
