Flow Cytometry Facility

Overview
Flow Cytometry is a widely used cell biology technology that measures in parallel multiple characteristics of single cells/particles while suspended in a moving fluid stream. It allows rapid quantitative information on numbers, size, granularity. When used in combination with fluorescent dyes or fluorophore-conjugate antibody staining it can provide quantification of cell viability, surface and intracellular/nuclear proteins on particles or live/fixed cells.
FACS stands for fluorescence activated cell sorting. This flow cytometry based-technology allows for simultaneous collection of aforementioned data followed by a sorting step of your cell population of interest.
